BUFFALO (wned) – With Election Day drawing closer, the Democratic Candidate for Erie County Executive, Mark Poloncarz, continues attacking incumbent Chris Collins.

Poloncarz accuses the county executive of hoarding Federal stimulus money and refusing to fix crumbling roads.

“Now, as we get close to election he’s starting hand it out like he’s Santa Claus.”

That drew a refute from the Collins Campaign.

According to spokesperson Stefan Mychajliw, this is the first time all 600 county-owned bridges and major culverts are open to traffic.

“The facts don’t lie.”

Poloncarz maintains the 2009 Erie County Highway Pavement Assessment shows only a handful of the county’s worst roads have actually been repaired.

He also accuses Collins of delaying the use of stimulus funds.

“That money could have been used to repair roads and put people to work all over Erie County.”

Mychajliw accuses Poloncarz of nitpicking.

“Under the leadership of Chris Collins county roads are in the best shape ever.”
