Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz announced that it looked doubtful a new lease agreement with the Buffalo Bills would be reached by the end of 2012. “And trust me, I’m disappointed because I went out there and said I want to get this done,” said the County Executive. While Mark Poloncarz declined to comment about what is holding things up, it is being reported that New York State was not available for several meetings – an accusation denied by State officials. The current 15-year lease expires in July 2013, but the Buffalo Bills have given assurances to Erie County that they are open to the idea of a one-year lease extension. “By doing an extension, it gives us one more year so that at least there is not this gun at our head,” added County Executive Poloncarz. While specific details about negotiations are not being revealed, it is known that the Buffalo Bills are asking for over $200-million dollars in up-grades to Ralph Wilson Stadium.
