8-24-12: Courtesy of WIVB. Thousands of Erie County employees voted down a tentative contract offer. But County Executive Mark Poloncarz says it may have been the best deal union workers will see. CSEA Local 815 members voted three-to-one to reject the proposed contract. “I was disappointed. It was a fair agreement,” Poloncarz said. “We showed over the life of the contract the lowest paid employee would have come out ahead approximately by $10000. The highest paid employee would have come out approximately ahead by $30000. But the county would have come out ahead in the long run because we would have significantly reduced the cost of health care. How they thought they were going to lose money, I don’t know. I guess the message was not sent out in a good fashion as it could have that this was good for all.”
