At least four of the new signs are scattered throughout Como Park. They’re supposed to be educational and informative. Commissioner of Erie County Parks Troy Schinzel says he doesn’t believe this is too much government regulation or infringing on the rights of others. “If our goal, and it should be, to offer citizens of Erie County to come in a smoke-free, healthy environment, I don’t think that’s asking too much,” he concluded. The smoke-free solution was implemented to drive down the number of adult smokers, says Anthony Billoni, director of the Tobacco-Free Coalition, and to keep kids from picking up the habit.
