9-15-11: Courtesy of YNN. The heated race for Erie County Executive is entering its final weeks. Democratic candidate and current Erie County Comptroller Mark Poloncarz released his strategy for economic development Wednesday. “I understand that we must put our skilled job force back to work. As county executive, I pledge my number one priority will be on job creation for the people of Erie County,” said Poloncarz. Poloncarz says if elected, he would only have one industrial development agency representing the whole county to eliminate what he calls “poaching” between the existing agencies. He encourages voters to look at his record as comptroller, and says he’s found more than $30 million in cost-saving measures that have yet to be initiated. “I’m going to go after medicaid fraud and the millions we can recoup with that. I understand what needs to be done in Erie County government. We’re talking to voters all across Erie County, I feel confident, really I do,” said Poloncarz.
