ERIE COUNTY, NY – It has been exactly one month since Democratic Candidate for County Executive Mark Poloncarz’s campaign hand-delivered a letter to Chris Collins’ headquarters challenging him to a series of three debates focusing on urban, suburban and rural-themed issues. As of today, the Poloncarz campaign has received no response to the challenge.
“During the past month, Chris Collins has chosen to hide behind misleading campaign advertisements and belligerent, ill-informed statements from his kowtowing spokesperson,” said Poloncarz spokesman Peter Anderson. “Why is Chris Collins hiding?”
Poloncarz, however, has already accepted additional invitations to debate in forums hosted by the Cheektowaga Chamber of Commerce, WIVB and WNED/League of Women Voters. As of today, the Collins’ campaign has not committed to any of these debates either.
“While Chris Collins stretches his summer vacation into the fall, Mark Poloncarz has been at work addressing the issues that affect the taxpayers of Erie County, and looks forward to the opportunity to debate his opponent on them,” said Anderson. “Isn’t it time that Chris Collins comes out of hiding to talk about the issues as well?”
