Poloncarz Campaign Also Announces Consultant Team

ERIE COUNTY, NY – Mark Poloncarz, Erie County Comptroller and candidate for County Executive, has announced the addition of former TV personality Peter Anderson to his campaign team. Anderson, who will serve as campaign spokesman and focus on media relations, hosted and co-produced various community-based programs for Time Warner Cable, including  “Crossroads” and “All That Matters.” His diverse media background, spanning 17 years, also includes on-air work in local radio. His knowledge of local issues, belief that community organizations deserve to be heard and reputation for fairness have made Anderson a respected and well-known media professional.

“I’m happy to welcome Peter Anderson to my team,” Poloncarz said. “Peter is a veteran of the local media scene who works hard and who understands that Erie County needs a change. I am fortunate to have him join the strong group of dedicated, hardworking people working on my campaign who are all working toward the same goal: a better Erie County.”

The son of an autoworker, Anderson learned his blue-collar work ethic while growing up in Cheektowaga. He graduated from St. Francis High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications/Broadcasting from Buffalo State College, working in different fields while completing his degree. Anderson began working in local radio in 1992, covering different formats, dayparts and responsibilities at several stations. His adaptability, perseverance, and hard-working nature led to a position at Adelphia cable in 1996, which then blossomed into the highly-regarded and award-winning programs mentioned above.

“Throughout my career as a TV host, I’ve had the opportunity to interview political people of every affiliation, including some currently in office,” Anderson said. “What impresses me most about Mark is his untiring commitment to the taxpayers. He’s a guy who doesn’t grandstand and isn’t concerned about making himself look good, but instead focuses on doing the best possible job for everyone in Erie County. I love his dedication and his work ethic and I’m looking forward to being a part of his team.”

In addition to Peter Anderson, the Poloncarz campaign has retained political consulting firm SKDKnickerbocker and the direct mail firm Blue&Read. SKDKnickerbocker has worked on many high profile races and with many high profile candidates, such as Governor Andrew Cuomo and NYS Attorney General Eric Schneiderman. Blue&Read, led by Western New York native Sherman Jewett, recently won three national awards from the American Association of Political Consultants in 2010 for its work produced for NYS Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli.
