Joins Business and Professional Women of New York State—Grand Island Chapter in Recognizing Shea’s Decades of Work on Behalf of Women

GRAND ISLAND, NY—On Thursday, June 9, 2011, Erie County Comptroller Mark Poloncarz presented Ms. Mary Anne Shea with a proclamation on behalf of Erie County and the Comptroller’s Office recognizing her decades of work on behalf of women.   Poloncarz was on-hand to congratulate Shea during a ceremony held at the Buffalo Launch Club on Grand Island where she was presented with the Advanced Cancer ThernosTx (ACT) Annual Professional Women’s Exemplary Leadership Award. 

“I am proud to recognize Ms. Shea as someone who has spent decades promoting equity for all women in the workplace and present her with a proclamation on behalf of Erie County and the Comptroller’s Office,” said Poloncarz.  “She has done so much to enrich our community and is a shining example for the rest of us.  Too often the hard work and dedication of members of our community is overlooked.  Today, it was my pleasure to make sure Ms. Shea knows how much we all appreciate her.”

The ACT Award is an opportunity to recognize women for what they have accomplished; it honor’s a women who “actively support and inspire women to reach their full potential; who promote equality and equity for all women in the workplace; who bring working women’s concerns to the attention of the business and professional community; who help to create balance in leadership roles; who are dedicated to helping women further their education and fosters the ability of low-income women to attain the tools necessary to obtain their self-sustaining goals; who excel in their chosen field;  who devote time and energy to their community in a meaningful way, and who serve as a role model for women everywhere.”

Each year, ACT awards are presented to 6 amazing women who passionately believe in using their intellect and ambition to change the game for all women.
