On May 7, 2011, Mark Poloncarz announced his candidacy for Erie County Executive before friends, family and hundreds of supporters in his hometown of Lackawanna. After the announcement, Poloncarz hit the road for a day-long tour of Erie County that included stops in Orchard Park, Cheektowaga, Buffalo, Amherst, Tonawanda and the city of Tonawanda, where he spoke with residents about the issues unique to their individual communities.
