12-28-11: Courtesy of YNN. Erie County Executive-elect Mark Poloncarz announced he’s made appointments to several key posts. Maria Whyte, the outgoing majority leader of the Erie County Legislature, will be Commissioner of Environment and Planning. Poloncarz named Dr. Gale Burnstein, a pediatrician at Women and Children’s Hospital, was named health commissioner. Robert Keating will serve as budget director. He had been the chief accountant in the county comptroller’s office. Daniel Neaverth Jr., who has held several county-level emergency responder posts, will be commissioner of emergency services. Michael Siragusa, who ran the Buffalo regional office for the state Attorney General, will be County Attorney. Poloncarz takes office on January 1st.
