ERIE COUNTY, NY – County Executive Candidate Mark Poloncarz addressed the momentum of his campaign today at a press conference at his campaign headquarters in Cheektowaga. Poloncarz cited his pick-up in fundraising dollars, his surge in campaign volunteers and his growing endorsement list as reasons that he feels confident going into the home stretch of the campaign.

“My campaign is gaining more momentum every day,” Poloncarz said. “The differences between my opponent and I couldn’t be more stark. I have been out in the community every evening talking directly to voters about the issues that matter to them most while my opponent has refused appearances and has been hiding behind misleading mail and campaign commercials.”

Over the past month, Poloncarz has out-fundraised Collins by $149,207.29, a 4-1 margin in the last filing period. Additionally, the filing reveals that the Poloncarz campaign has out-fundraised Collins overall by $158,582.76 since Poloncarz declared his candidacy on May 7. Unlike his opponent who is a millionaire who lent his campaign $800,000, Poloncarz is a public servant who cannot afford to reach into his pocket and pull out millions. Most of the recent donations to the Poloncarz campaign have been small donors who believe in Mark’s message and recognize that Collins doesn’t work for Erie County.

“In this last week of the campaign, I will continue to do what I have done all along: travel around the county to speak directly with voters about my positive message to move Erie County into the future,” Poloncarz said. “Voters are responding very positively to my message of job creation, holding the line on taxes and providing efficient county services. From what I am hearing out in the community every day, I am confident that one week from today, I will be the next County Executive.”
