5-18-11: Courtesy of WBFO. The Erie County Democratic Committee voted unanimously to endorsed county comptroller Mark Poloncarz for County Executive Tuesday. Poloncarz launched announced his bid to unseat republican incumbent County Executive Chris Collins more than a week ago. Party chairman Len Lenihan said support for Poloncarz was overwhelming from local democrats. Lenihan expects Poloncarz to avoid personal attacks and instead, go straight to the issues. “He will, however, talk about how he would use se the stimulus money instead of how Collins used it. He will talk about how he will support libraries and cultural organizations as opposed to trying to defund them,” said Lenihan. Poloncarz said he will campaign against what he calls the failed policies of the county executive, including his opponents disregard for organizations important to voters. “He could not find money for librarians and rodent control officers and correctional officers, probation officers….but he could find money for a $50000 raise for his county attorney,” said Poloncarz.
