Poloncarz Endorsed by Women’s Equality Party

County Executive Recognized for Leadership, Advocacy on Women’s Issues

ERIE COUNTY, NY – Today, Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz announced that he has been endorsed by the Women’s Equality Party and will proudly run on their line in this November’s election. During his first term in office, Poloncarz has implemented a county policy that mandates equal pay for equal work between genders and also initiated the establishment of a similar policy at the Erie County Industrial Development Agency.

“The Women’s Equality Party was proud to endorse Mark Poloncarz, who has shown a strong commitment to the issues of gender equality. By championing the County’s Pay Equity policy for businesses that contract with Erie County he has been a leader in ensuring Erie County families benefit from the many advantages that are realized when women are paid equal to their male counterparts. This is only one example of his ongoing support for women in Erie County,” said Diana Cihak, WNY Regional Chair of the Women’s Equality Party.

Other examples of Poloncarz’ ongoing supports for women in Erie County include his advocacy for women- and minority owned businesses in county contracts and his strong support for the creation of the Domestic Violence Tribute Garden at Isle View Park.

“I am honored to accept the endorsement of the Women’s Equality Party and will continue to work hard to ensure that women’s rights are recognized and respected across Erie County,” said Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz. “I am proud to run with other strong candidates like Kelly Brinkworth for Erie County Family Court and Diane Benczkowski for Cheektowaga Supervisor on the Women’s Equality Party line. Women are vital to the success of our economy, our community, and our region. I will always speak strongly for their rights and support their full participation in our business community.”

Seeking election to a second term on Election Day, Tuesday November 3, Poloncarz has also been endorsed by the Democratic and Working Families Parties and will run on their lines as well. Poloncarz is also proud to be endorsed for re-election by the WNY CWA Council, the Buffalo PBA, the WNY Area Labor Federation, 1199 SEIU, Local 282 of the Buffalo Professional Firefighters, Laborers Local 210, the Buffalo Building Trades, the United Auto Workers, the Stonewall Democrats of WNY, and UAW Region 9.
