BUFFALO (WNED) – The candidates running for Erie County Executive faced off in a live televised debate Thursday night in the WNED studios.

Republican Chris Collins and Democrat Mark Poloncarz sparred over taxes, the size of government, cultural funding and other issues in a lively 60-minute debate.

Both candidates vowed to serve a full four-year term in elected and said they had no intention of raising taxes.

The candidates answered questions posed by a panel of local journalists and email questions submitted by viewers.

The debate aired live on WNED TV and WNED AM 970.
