Erie County is comprised of urban, suburban and rural communities with its residents made up of all races, ethnicities, religions and hailing from all walks of life, making it one of the most diverse counties in all of New York State. As such, Erie County’s executive should be a leader for the community, one who represents all of the diverse interests in the county.
As YOUR County Executive, I will return government to those who own it – the citizens of Erie County. County government should not be treated as a prize from an election, where the friends and family of the victor are rewarded with high paying patronage jobs at a time when librarians, civil servants (like auditors, rodent control and probation officers) and sheriff deputies are laid off. Your County Executive must be a representative for ALL who live in the county, not just the select few who are campaign contributors or big business CEOs.
I will never forget my blue collar roots or the good people who gave me the opportunity to clean up Erie County after the “Red-Green” budget disaster. As comptroller I worked hard to restore the reputation of the county, beginning with restoring the confidence the people had in their comptroller’s office. As County Executive, I will clean up all of county government in the same manner I restored the reputation and trust in the comptroller’s office – by working hard on behalf of the true owners of county government – the people of Erie County.
