IMG_6951ERIE COUNTY, NY – Today, among hundreds of enthusiastic Democratic supporters, Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz announced that he will run for reelection to a second term. Supporters gathered for a rally for Poloncarz and the endorsed countywide Democratic slate at Lucarelli’s Banquet Hall in Poloncarz’s hometown of Lackawanna.

It has been my distinct privilege to serve as your county executive and today I announce I am seeking reelection to the office and am proud to accept the Erie County Democratic Committee’s endorsement to be your county executive,” Poloncarz said. “I am honored to be the Democratic Party’s candidate for county executive and am proud to be here with my Democratic partners today. We must fight to continue the progress we’ve worked so hard for in the past four years.”
Poloncarz delivered an announcement that detailed his accomplishments over the past four years. He is proud to run on his record of strong leadership and looks forward to discussing his record of achievements.
I am looking forward to a vigorous debate on the issues because our opponents have a different vision for our community’s future. They will spout out from the traditional Republican revisionist playbook that all the good things that happened recently actually didn’t and try to take us back to the past. It’s the same worn out, tired playbook that failed us in the past,” Poloncarz said. “When problems come up, you don’t stubbornly dig in your heels, blame someone else for it and ignore them. You roll up your sleeves, reach out and work together to solve them.”

Poloncarz was joined at the rally by Erie County Democratic Committee Chairman Jeremy Zellner, Mayor Byron Brown and the endorsed countywide Democratic slate:

Poloncarz was elected in 2011 as Erie County Executive after serving as Erie County Comptroller for six years. Prior to running for public office, he practiced corporate and finance law. He is the son of a steelworker and a nurse from Lackawanna, NY.
